British Foreign Secretary David Lammy met in Damascus with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara. This is the first diplomatic visit by a British minister to the country in 14 years. The British government stated that "Lammy's visit emphasizes our support for the Syrian government in fulfilling its commitments." The Kingdom also announced a humanitarian aid package worth £94.5 million for Syrian residents.
