Macron urges Netanyahu to halt strikes in Gaza and resume ceasefire

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and later wrote on his X account: "The release of the hostages and Israel's security are top priorities for France. I called on Netanyahu to halt the strikes in Gaza and return to the ceasefire, which Hamas must accept." Macron also stated: "We will continue working on a reconstruction plan and a two-state solution. Any displacement or annexation would go against this goal." He additionally addressed Israel’s strike in Beirut on Friday, which he condemned, writing: "I called on Israel to respect the ceasefire in Lebanon."
