Arye Deri, leader of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox Shas party, praised U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday following his White House meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him “a messenger of God for the Jewish people.”
“Dear President Trump, you are acting as a divine envoy for the Jewish people and achieving great success due to your unwavering support for Israel against its enemies,” Deri said in a statement. He expressed hope that Trump and Netanyahu would continue leading “historic moves that will reshape the Middle East and strengthen Israel’s security and peace.”
