A biology professor from the University of Cyprus announced on Sunday that him and his team have discovered a new coronavirus variant that combines within itself the Delta and Omicron strains.
The variant - named "Deltaacron" - appears to be more frequent in COVID patients who require hospitalization.
"We do not know if the combined strain will take over and be more common than Delta or Omicron, but for now, it seems that Omicron is the most contagious strain," said the professor.
