Nechirvan Barzani, president of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, has welcomed the call by Abdullah Ocalan, jailed leader of the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), for it to lay down arms and dissolve itself, a statement said on Thursday.
