War Cabinet approves pilot to transfer aid from Israel to northern Gaza

The War Cabinet approved the start of a pilot transfer of humanitarian aid from Israel to the northern Gaza Strip. In doing so, Jerusalem is responding to U.S. pressure to bring aid directly to northern Gaza due to severe shortages of food, medicine and water and the effects of famine. The aid trucks will pass a security check at Kerem Shalom or the Nitsana crossing, will travel through Israeli territory and enter northern Gaza through the humanitarian corridor. According to the Prime Minister's Office, "the plan for the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has been approved in a way that will prevent the effects of looting." (Itamar Eichner)
