Opposition leader Yair Lapid criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's response to the state comptroller regarding October 7, in which he claimed that the reasons for the strategic failure on the day of the massacre stemmed primarily from events that occurred during periods when he was not in office: Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000 and the disengagement in 2005. Lapid said: "Contrary to his claims, Netanyahu was warned repeatedly before October 7, including by me, and ignored all the warnings."
