Current French assets in Red Sea 'sufficient', senior naval commander says

Current French assets in the Red Sea region, targeted by Yemen's Houthi group, are sufficient, a senior French naval commander said on Thursday, adding that French naval forces accompany ships with French interests travelling there. France cooperates closely with a U.S.-led operation in the Red Sea but its movements remain entirely under French command, he added. Eighty percent of traffic still goes through the Bab Al-Mandab straits between Yemen and Djibouti thanks to international military efforts, the commander said.
