Police respond to 'possible COVID restrictions breach in Melbourne synagogue religious gathering in Melbourne's south-east

Police in Melbourne, Australia have surrounded a synagogue where 100 Jewish worshippers have been barricading for hours, suspected of violations of public health orders put in place to fight the spread of COVID-19.
According to local reports, the Jewish worshippers refused to leave the premises, expecting to be fined 5,450 Australian dollars ( NIS 13,000) when they do.
Police forces have opted not to force their way into the synagogue.
