Investigation at Kaplan Hospital: Blood taken from patients for research without their knowledge

|
The management of Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot filed a police complaint last week, suspecting that as part of a laboratory study conducted in the hospital's cardiology department, blood samples were taken from patients without informed consent, as required by law. This was reported in response to Ynet's inquiry. The hospital stated that the suspicion arose following preliminary findings, and the police were asked to investigate the conduct in the department during the study. Alongside the complaint, the management updated the Health Ministry about the suspicion and the actions taken, and decided on additional immediate measures. The hospital suspended the head of the cardiology department at the hospital, Prof. Kobi George, from his position.
