Lebanese report: Israel-Egypt relations expected to improve if Gaza ceasefire continues

Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar", affiliated with Hezbollah, reported from Egyptian sources that Israel-Egypt relations are moving toward improvement thanks to several changes, including the restoration of diplomatic communication channels, expected to begin next week. According to the sources, Egypt conditioned the renewal of diplomatic relations on "continuing work on the ceasefire agreement and not violating it or returning to fighting" and "reopening the Rafah crossing in the coming days." The report also claimed that if the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip continues, Cairo will accredit the Israeli ambassador in Cairo, but his involvement in meetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi with foreign diplomats will be postponed until further notice.
