Family of Gur Kehati removed military tombstone: 'IDF wrote him off, we got the message'

|
Ron, the father of Gur Kehati who was killed in a clash with Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, said that following the army's decision not to take action against Col. (res.) Yoav Yarom, the family dismantled his military tombstone. Ron wrote on his Facebook account, accompanied by photos of the tombstone's removal, that "the IDF conveyed the message to us last week, with the closing of Gur's investigation file, that the army is effectively 'writing him off.'" Kehati added: "We understood the message clearly and chose to end the unsuccessful relationship between the IDF and Gur. Today we removed all military symbols from Gur's grave and returned the burial plot to the family." Ron added that part of the tombstone was placed at the Kirya in Tel Aviv. According to him, a note was delivered to the IDF Chief of Staff: "Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir is invited to do with it as he sees fit."
