Suspect in Ben-Gvir Associates Bribery Case Appointed CEO of Tiberias Municipality: 'Met the Requirements'

|
Chief Superintendent Avishai Moalem, a suspect in the bribery case involving associates of Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, has retired from the police force and begun serving as CEO of the Tiberias Municipality. "After 40 years of service in the IDF and the police, the time has come to pause for a moment, look back and say goodbye," Moalem wrote. "The police for me was never just a workplace, it was a way of life. I intend to continue serving the public, contributing from my experience and ability and continuing to work for the benefit of society and the state." The municipality stated that this represents the closing of a circle for the native son of the city, who served at the local police station. "Moalem met the requirements for the position and his candidacy was approved this week," the statement said.
