U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reveals details of the 'Economic D-Day' plan announced by President Donald Trump. He threatened to impose sanctions on approximately 60 entities, individuals and vessels linked to Iran, and to target secondary sanctions in five sectors: digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping. In addition, general licenses that permitted remittance payments to Iran may be revoked. Bessent noted that the sanctions are aimed at a network of intermediary companies and shadow fleet vessels across the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Switzerland and Europe, and said: 'The clock starts ticking.'
