Palestinian Authority announces plans for Abbas and leadership to visit Gaza

The office of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas announced Sunday evening that the Palestinian leadership has initiated international arrangements and coordination in preparation for Abbas and other leaders to visit the Gaza Strip.
According to the statement, the purpose of the visit is to "stand with the people who are experiencing genocide and to reaffirm that the State of Palestine and the PLO are the legitimate authorities responsible for all of Palestine and are working to restore national unity."
However, Palestinian Authority officials estimate that Abbas’s visit to Gaza is unlikely to take place in the near future.
