Minister Benny Gantz spoke on Friday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Gantz’s office said on Saturday.
According to a statement, he expressed appreciation for "Canada's contribution and commitment to Israel's security and the release of hostages from the terrorist organization Hamas."
Gantz also reportedly updated Trudeau on the developments in the Gaza war and the northern border, emphasizing "the importance of international support in undermining Hamas' military and governmental capabilities to stabilize the entire region."
The two also discussed "the need to strengthen regional architecture, focusing on naval power, to confront the threat of Iran's proxies, the Houthis, who endanger the global economy with their terrorist acts in the Red Sea."
According to the statement, Gantz and Trudeau agreed to continue their communication going forward.
