Police announced they will file a prosecutor's statement before an indictment against Yan Shmela, 41, from Be'er Sheva, who is suspected of injecting sedatives into fruit purées for babies. About two and a half months ago, four children arrived at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital with signs of weakness and apathy. An investigation by the Jerusalem District Police revealed that traces of sedatives were found in their blood tests. Following their hospitalization, a connection was found to baby fruit purée from the "Prinok" brand purchased at branches of the "Zol V'Begadol" chain. Police released footage of Shmela walking through the supermarket before he injected the sedatives into the purée.
