Following a confrontation between senior officials of the Finance Ministry and the defense establishment, the two ministries announced a budgetary addition of 42 billion shekels for 2025-2026. Amid disputes over the defense budget, the ministries reported that control mechanisms over it will be strengthened. Defense system leaders had demanded 60 billion shekels to finance the war against Iran and Operation "Gideon's Chariots," two initiatives that were not included in the budget planning for 2025. Finance Ministry officials initially refused to pay, sharply criticized the IDF and said: "The army does whatever it pleases."
