All Israeli representatives in the United Arab Emirates — the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate general in Dubai — and their family members were evacuated today on a special military flight that took off from Dubai and received exceptional approval to land at Ben Gurion Airport, despite the closure of airspace to commercial flights. Israel did not evacuate the 500 citizens stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi after their flights were canceled. However, the military evacuation flight carried several exceptional cases, such as the body of a woman who died in the UAE two days ago and her family, as well as a 93-year-old Israeli woman who was stranded there. Israeli Ambassador to the UAE Yossi Shelley is in Israel and did not require evacuation.
