UAE warns: Annexation of West Bank is a red line, will severely damage Abraham Accords spirit

|
The United Arab Emirates has warned Israel that any move to annex the West Bank would constitute a "red line" for Abu Dhabi and would severely damage the spirit of the Abraham Accords that led to normalization of relations between the countries. The statements were made against the backdrop of discussions in Israel about the possibility of applying sovereignty to parts of the territory. "From the beginning, we saw the agreements as a tool that would allow us to continue supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspiration for an independent state," Lana Nusseibeh, assistant minister for political affairs and envoy of the UAE foreign minister, told Reuters. According to her, "this was our position in 2020 and it remains our position today."
