Reports in Iran: Parliament drafting plan to withdraw from Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

|
Iranian media reported that the country's parliament has begun drafting an "urgent plan" to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which will be presented today and could be approved next week. According to the plan, Iran would withdraw from the treaty; suspend all negotiations with the United States, Britain, Germany and France; and end cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A member of the Iranian parliament was also quoted saying that "there is no point in conducting negotiations."
