The United States Department of Justice has fired three prosecutors who handled the Capitol riot cases that erupted after current President Donald Trump's election defeat in 2021. This was reported by AP from two sources familiar with the matter, who added that two of the prosecutors supervised the cases and an additional prosecutor was directly involved in prosecuting defendants in the January 6 Capitol riots. Additionally, one of those fired claimed he received a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi that did not specify the reason for his dismissal but only quoted the second article of the U.S. Constitution, which deals with presidential powers.
