The Menachem Begin Heritage Center will award the "Begin Prize" to Iris Haim, journalist Brigitte Gabriel and the organization "Connections in Agriculture." The prize is awarded annually "in recognition of a special deed, contribution or achievement for the people of Israel and the State of Israel." Haim, whose son Yotam was kidnapped to Gaza and accidentally killed by IDF forces, won the prize "for being a moral and leadership figure who expresses the possibility to choose connection, responsibility and light, even in the deepest darkness." Gabriel, an American of Lebanese descent, won the prize for "prolonged and significant advocacy in the challenging international arena during the war, support for Israel and criticism of radical Islam." "Connections in Agriculture" was chosen "for being a grassroots Israeli organization prominent in its agricultural activities and in Israel's rehabilitation."
