Mandelblit: 'Cigars and champagne didn't justify deeper probe, supply line info changed everything'

|
Former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit said in his testimony in Case 1000, in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is charged, that approval for actions against a prime minister "is given for examining a subject. You don't need to come ask for every action." Judge Moshe Bar-Am asked: "For what then?" Mandelblit replied: "You need to say there is suspicion against someone and we want to deepen the investigation into him, all within the framework of that subject. Things need to be logical. I wasn't thinking at that time about cigars and champagne. What they presented to me at that time didn't justify deepening the investigation into cigars and champagne. What changed things was the information about a supply line and the use of code names that indicated concealment."
