Mexican security forces launched an operation to capture cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'El Mencho,' after surveillance by American and Mexican intelligence agencies that tracked one of his mistresses. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in Mexico. According to the report, 'El Mencho' remained behind after the mistress left, and forces pursued him and several of his bodyguards until they began shooting at each other. In the exchange of fire, eight people were killed, including 'El Mencho' himself and two of his bodyguards. Mexican sources said American intelligence assisted in the operation.
