Two Palestinians, including a Palestinian Authority officer, were on their way to Jericho and passed through an IDF checkpoint in Tulkarm. About half an hour after the inspection, the officer, Rafat Abu Shams (41), suffered a heart attack and died despite medical treatment provided by the military force, later joined by a Red Crescent team. The Palestinians claim Abu Shams died after being beaten by the soldiers. However, a security source emphasized that no violence or force was used against him throughout the incident, and it was solely a cardiac event.
