The Beer Sheva District Court sentenced Or Hasid to 7.5 years in prison after he was convicted of raping a 12-and-a-half-year-old girl he met on Instagram. According to his conviction, he contacted the girl on Instagram and exchanged messages of a sexual nature with her. Later, at her request, he met with her twice. The judges noted that "even if the minor requested to meet with the defendant, consent at such an age is not consent." He was convicted of rape, attempted rape, sodomy and indecent acts, and was additionally sentenced to a suspended prison term and ordered to pay 50,000 shekels in compensation to the girl.
