The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, 'Khatam al-Anbiya,' announced a renewed closure of the Strait of Hormuz to free passage of ships, after Iran announced its reopening just yesterday. According to Tehran, the reason for this is the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports. The statement read: "The Americans continue to engage in 'piracy' under the guise of what is called a 'blockade.' Control over the Strait of Hormuz has been restored to its previous status. As long as the U.S. does not lift restrictions on freedom of movement of ships to and from Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain under close supervision."
