The whale shark, which was seen in recent days off several beaches in Israel, was documented surrounded by crowds of Palestinians in the Khan Yunis area of the Gaza Strip. There it was reported that the length of the "largest fish in the world" is about ten meters. In recent days, the whale shark was spotted off the central and southern coasts, but apparently it swam further south and was either caught by fishermen in Gaza or washed ashore. Dr. Adi Barash, CEO of the Sharks in Israel Association, confirmed it was definitely a whale shark: "Ecologically, this doesn't have much significance since it's a single shark. It's better not to elaborate on what happened. It just makes me sad."
