Professor Eliezer Kaplinsky, former director of the Heart Institute at Sheba Medical Center and dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, has died at the age of 89. He previously managed the Heart Institute at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer and served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. Eliezer was married to the late Professor Naomi Kaplinsky, a rheumatologist and internal medicine department director at Ichilov Hospital, who was killed in a car accident in 2005 at the age of 68. The couple's son, Boaz Kaplinsky, also died in the same accident at the age of 36.
