The committee for examining appointments in government companies, headed by retired Judge Shulamit Dotan, disqualified the appointment of Esther Schreiber as CEO of the Israel Antiquities Authority. The reasoning stated that the threshold requirements set in the tender were lower than required by law and therefore the tender in which Schreiber was selected was disqualified. Judge Dotan informed Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu of her decision. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the decision and responded: 'The official reason - 'legal,' the real reason - a religious CEO with a headscarf doesn't suit the deep state. Tell us more about how much it 'hurts you' the absence of women in public service.'
