Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held phone conversations regarding the military service exemption law with Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri, Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein, and MK Ariel Atias, the representative of the ultra-Orthodox in negotiations on the law. The conversations took place alongside the Prime Minister's diplomatic meetings with senior officials in Washington. Netanyahu's flight to the United States on Sunday was delayed due to pressure from the ultra-Orthodox to resolve the issue, and Edelstein was urgently called to the Knesset to present the draft of the conscription law.
