Eli Shtivi, father of deceased hostage Idan Shtivi, addressed the negotiations for a hostage deal, saying in an interview with ynet Studio: "I collapsed a bit, the stress of recent days simply became too much. I warned all the families about this collapse and in the end I was the first." Shtivi added: "We returned from Washington. We were full of hope, I was sure within two days there would be a deal.
