Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apparently decided that the addition to the defense budget due to the war with Iran will be significantly higher than Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's plan and will amount to 28 billion shekels in the state budget, plus an off-budget 'box' of about 10 billion shekels to be kept aside for additional security scenarios. Minister Smotrich wanted to settle for an initial addition of 9.5 billion shekels, while the defense establishment estimated the cost of a four-week war at 42 billion shekels, a cost of one and a half billion shekels per day of fighting. The budget will be brought to the government for approval this evening.
