Four residents of Tzafafa in southeastern Jerusalem—Mamadouh Khader, Omri Abu Hamida, Mahmoud Khader and Mohammed Taha—were convicted based on their confessions as part of a plea deal for security offenses they committed on behalf of Iran. According to the amended indictment, an agent acting on behalf of Iran contacted another defendant in the case and assigned him, in exchange for payment, missions intended to harm state security, including establishing a terror cell and working to assassinate a nuclear scientist and his family members, obtaining weapons and grenades and creating documentation purporting to show an attack on a soldier's home and a police vehicle. Mamadouh Khader and Omri Abu Hamida were convicted of failing to prevent a terrorist act after they joined a trip to the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, during which they were informed that it was a mission received from an Iranian agent.
