Colonel Nir Nitzan of Kfar Ma'as, one of the heroes of the battle for the liberation of Jerusalem in the Six-Day War, has died at the age of 91. Nitzan was one of the commanders of the battle for Ammunition Hill and despite being wounded in his hand during the battle, he refused to be evacuated, was bandaged in the field and continued to lead his soldiers until the mission was completed. For his courage and dedication to the mission, he was awarded the Medal of Valor. Nitzan is survived by four children and nine grandchildren.
