Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon sent a strongly worded letter to UN Humanitarian Coordinator Tom Fletcher following his claim at the Security Council that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. Danon wrote in his letter, 'You dared to raise a serious accusation without evidence or mandate. This was a defamation campaign, you exploited your position to spread libel against Israel. You have lost the trust placed in you. Before you judge Israel, ask yourself what you did for the hostages and what you did to prevent the horrors of October 7.'
