Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the opening of the first government meeting since the ceasefire with Iran that "we have a great victory in the battle against the enemy who came to destroy us, and with this victory we have removed two immediate existential threats to ensure Israel's eternity." According to him, "We thought it was important to destabilize the Iranian regime while we had the opportunity, if there were assessments that it was possible - we would have continued." However, he noted that "such an overthrow needs to come from within."
