Following the arrest on Highway 1, the Shin Bet and police announced that two suspects were detained for involvement in planning a terror attack. According to the statement, "Yamam fighters together with Shin Bet operatives, acting on precise intelligence guidance from the Israel Security Agency, arrested two suspects involved in planning a terror attack against Israeli citizens. Following the intelligence guidance, the forces located the suspects on Highway 1, near the Latrun interchange, and arrested them." The detainees were transferred for further investigation by the Shin Bet.
