The Ministerial Committee on Defense Procurement approved over the weekend the Defense Ministry's plan to simultaneously acquire F-35 and F-15IA aircraft, worth tens of billions of shekels, in quantities sufficient for two new fighter squadrons, the Defense Ministry announced. It was also reported that this is the first step in implementing the force buildup plan for the coming decade, which was approved by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister with a dedicated budget of 350 billion shekels. The scope of the deals also includes absorption of the squadrons into the Air Force, comprehensive support, spare parts and logistics.
