Kobi, the father of captivity survivor Alon Ohel, described his rehabilitation process - which he called a "rebirth." In an interview with ynet studio, Ohel said: "Alon has a long journey ahead, he gets stronger every day - it's a rebirth. He went through a very difficult period of captivity, both physically and mentally." He added that "Alon experienced a period of starvation. He said 'For months we couldn't get up or walk. We lay down. I looked and saw skin and bones.'" Regarding the harsher conditions experienced by the hostages following statements by Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, he said: "During periods of intensive fighting, Alon was also beaten. The conditions became more difficult."
