Basic Law: Torah Study Passes Second and Third Reading in Knesset

|
The Basic Law: Torah Study passed its second and third readings in the Knesset plenum. 63 Knesset members voted in favor and 52 voted against. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was absent from the vote. The law was approved in a softened version, but still one that could help the ultra-Orthodox in advancing a future draft exemption law before the Supreme Court.
