Fire on Khan Younis hospital required special approval; investigation into tank or artillery origin

Yoav Zitun|
The IDF is investigating whether the munitions that hit Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, in at least two consecutive strikes, were fired from artillery or a tank. The military stopped firing artillery shells in the area after several similar incidents around May, and in any case a hospital is always defined for forces as a "sensitive location" - which cannot be attacked without exceptional approval from a very senior officer, or alternatively after a set of preliminary actions, and not with statistical fire or direct targeting.
