Report: Saudi Arabia considering 'non-aggression' pact between Middle East nations and Iran

|
Saudi Arabia has raised the possibility of a 'non-aggression' pact between Middle East nations and Iran, as part of talks it has held on managing tensions in the region following the war. This was reported by Britain's Financial Times, based on diplomats. According to the report, Riyadh is considering a model similar to the 'Helsinki Accords' from the 1970s, which eased tensions during the Cold War in Europe. An Arab diplomat quoted in the report expressed reservations: 'It all depends on who participates. In the current climate you cannot include Iran and Israel, and without Israel it could be counterproductive because after Iran, it is seen as the biggest source of conflict.'
