Cornell University President Michael Kotlikoff rejected the student council's decision calling to end the institution's partnership with the Technion at the Cornell Tech campus in New York. Kotlikoff clarified that the venture is not a political entity but an academic partnership, and that canceling the relationship for reasons of political protest would harm Cornell's academic freedom. He added that contrary to the students' claims, it is not possible to unilaterally terminate the partnership and continue operating the campus independently. The president condemned the attempt to selectively boycott the Technion from among the university's 159 international agreements worldwide, noting that 'the obvious political bias in this selective approach is deeply troubling and contrary to the institution's core values.'
