Opposition faction chairs: Milbitsky's appointment as Finance Committee chairman - 'an ugly and dangerous moment'

The chairwomen of Yesh Atid, Blue and White, and Democrats factions, MKs Merav Ben-Ari, Pnina Tamano-Shata and Efrat Rayten, made a joint statement this morning against the appointment of MK Hanoch Milbitsky as chairman of the Finance Committee, following allegations against him of rape and witness tampering. Tamano-Shata said: "Appointing someone suspected of rape to a senior position in the Knesset not only damages the Knesset's dignity and public trust, but first and foremost severely harms the fight against sexual violence and sex offenders." Ben-Ari added that "the automatic rallying of coalition members around someone suspected of rape, led by the Likud party, is shameful." Finally, Rayten stated that "this is an ugly and dangerous moment that will be recorded in the history pages of this coalition."
