According to Herzog, 'his announcement to end his term as head of the service soon is the right step that reflects accountability.' Herzog added that 'the proper way to fulfill responsibility toward bereaved families and the entire State of Israel must include a comprehensive and professional state commission of inquiry.' He also noted that 'the Shin Bet must not be involved in politics.'
