Police chief on rise in murder cases: 'There are spontaneous incidents that are difficult to prevent in advance'

|
Israel Police Commissioner Danny Levy held a situation assessment on the rise in murder cases in recent weeks. According to him, "Within this difficult reality, it is important to clarify and be precise: There are incidents that originate from organized crime, conflicts between crime organizations and struggles for control and power - against these we operate forcefully, in a focused and systematic manner, with a clear goal of striking at and dismantling crime infrastructures. Alongside this, unfortunately there are also spontaneous, unpredictable incidents, ones that are difficult and sometimes impossible to prevent in advance, such as the cases in Petah Tikva, Be'er Sheva, Hatzor HaGlilit and this morning near Zichron Yaakov." The commissioner added: "We are operating in a continuous state of emergency. It is not always possible to see the results immediately."
