The "Legal Advisers Bill," submitted by MK Avihai Boaron (Likud), passed in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. According to the proposal, government ministries' legal advisers will no longer be subordinate to the Attorney General and to Supreme Court rulings that have supported this legal subordination since the establishment of the state. Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara earlier criticized the proposal, saying it is "designed to turn public legal counsel into a body serving as a confidant of the political echelon. Contrary to its name, it does not strengthen the 'independence' of the ministries' legal advisers, but weakens them."
