Military Defense to High Court: State Comptroller handling matters reserved for inquiry commission

|
The Military Defense submitted an "urgent update" to the High Court regarding the petition against State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman concerning his "accelerated activity regarding the October 7 events." According to the Defense, "despite the petition and request for an interim order to suspend the audit proceedings, the Comptroller has accelerated his activities, approached the highest officials in the country and defense establishment, sent questionnaires ahead of testimony meetings and has even begun formulating draft reports. Furthermore, on August 18, 2025, the Comptroller issued a press release about advancing audits on core issues of the October 7 events: the work of the political-security cabinet, intelligence, border defense in the Gaza Strip, economic warfare against terrorism and the sequence of events on that day, and the night before - which are exactly the issues at the heart of the petition filed by the Defense - which they claim are reserved exclusively for a commission of inquiry."
